Our goal at ReGen Physical Therapy is to be patient centered and strive to achieve patient goals while maintaining a respectful and pleasant treatment approach, without the confines of corporate restrictions and pressures.
Our specialties range from sports medicine, total joint replacements, wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries involving the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle, and foot, spinal dysfunctions, gait disorders, vestibular issues, as well as high functioning neurologic deficits.
At ReGen Physical Therapy, we have a patient-first approach. Every patient sees the same team of therapists. We schedule at a pace that allows for one- on- one interaction and all treatment plans are individualized and catered to the needs of each patient. We provide all current and research-based modalities available, and we accept all major insurances.
At ReGen Physical Therapy, we balance personalized care that includes a thorough examination, mobility, flexibility, and stability intervention, manual therapy including joint and soft tissue mobilization balanced with evidence- based modalities for pain, inflammation, and tissue healing.
Our team is certified in Dry Needling, Cold Laser, Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, KT and Rock tape, Graston and RockTape instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and many more modalities
Sommer Smith is a graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's of science 2000, a master's degree in physical therapy 2003,and a doctorate of physical therapy from the University of St. Scholastica in 2024. She moved to Birmingham to complete her final internship at HealthSouth with Dr. Andrews and Dr. Lemak and under the guidance of Mike Reinold, DPT and Kevin Wilk, PT, (leaders in the sports physical therapy industry), and had the privilege of working with patients ranging from youth sports to professional athletes. After HealthSouth dissolved, she moved to Vestavia and was involved in a start -up sports medicine clinic furthering her specialty in sports medicine. In 2008, she accepted a job in her new hometown of Gardendale where she could be closer to home and part of her community, as well as developing the opportunity to grow further in a wide range of neurologic, gait, vestibular and spinal dysfunctions. While employed at Gardendale Physician Associates, which later became St. Vincent's Gardendale, her knowledge and expertise branched to a much more diverse patient population, but so did her love for the community she calls home. She and her husband Chris have lived in Gardendale for 17 years and have established strong roots for their 2 boys, Christian and Luke. She and her family attend Church of the Highlands. They have 2 German Shepherds who help keep the family busy when the boys are not playing sports.
Mary Paige is a graduate of Southern Miss University. She has 15 years of outpatient orthopedic experience and is constantly pursuing further knowledge and growth to help make every patient achieve their desired goals. She is married to Jeb and they have 2 amazing kids, Caroline and Caleb. They live in Homewood and attend Church of the Highlands. Their newest addition to the family, Kevin, is a boxer mix rescued from Blount County shelter, and he may need to be a new addition to the clinic for a little therapy love.
Dee is a graduate of UAB with 35 years of experience in physical therapy. She and her husband Lynn live in Morris and have 2 married children and 4 grandchildren. In her free time, she is an Independent Travel Consultant who loves to travel and help others turn their travel dreams into reality. She has a shih tzu named Chewie who brings lots of joy and doggie kisses.
Sharona is the ReGen Practice Manager who brings a huge smile to the faces of all who interact with her. She is the mother of 4 with 2 granddaughters. In her free time, her youngest kiddos keep her extremely active with their athletics and extracurriculars. She has 18 years of experience in medical practice management and is a tremendous resource to our team.
Laci is a recent graduate of Fultondale High School and became a part of the ReGen team as our PT tech. She has a history of being a physical therapy patient and fell in love with the profession. She is a huge helping hand in the clinic and are so excited about what her future holds
